Tortuosity is an ongoing series of digital paintings, related to, yet stylistically divergent from my earlier digital paintings. They began as monochromatic works exploring the emergence of form from space and the resulting structures created by these emergent forms. In later works, color was added to reveal and emphasize previously hidden structures and details.
Tortuosity represents variations on a theme, reflecting the structural nuances of order and chaos, and the ultimate balance between them. Who knows if these floating clusters represent manifestations of inner or outer, micro or macro space. The forms ebb and flow, evoking something real, yet imaginary.
The imagery is created entirely in Adobe Photoshop, using a Wacom graphics tablet. Smaller “Elemental” units are hand drawn, then combined to create larger units. These structures are then recombined using a variety of layering techniques to build up the intricate compositions.
