About

Sheriann Ki Sun Burnham (a.k.a. Sheri Ki Sun) is a visual artist and designer working in mixed media/digital fine art, graphics and creative production.

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Sheri came to the U.S. when adopted at the age of two. Growing up in an artistic household, her artist mother provided ample materials and encouragement for her various creative endeavors. She received a B.A. in Studio Art from California State University Long Beach in 1982, and since then has pursued a dual career in fine art and design.

As a fine artist, Sheri explores the intersection of handmade and computational systems in creating mixed media and digital paintings, sculptures, and time-based art. Since 1981, she has integrated digital technologies into her artistic practice. Her work has been exhibited and published nationally and internationally since the mid-1980s, including: multiple ACM SIGGRAPH Art Shows and Traveling Shows, Graphite in New Zealand, Artware: Kunst und Elektronik in Germany, The New York Digital Salon and Traveling Show, John Wayne and Ontario International Airports, and the Long Beach Museum of Art. In the early 2000s, Sheri collaborated on virtual reality art projects at Caltech and Brown University, and in 2018 she was Visiting Artist in Digital Media at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. In 2004 she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Long Beach Public Corporation for the Arts (now Arts Council for Long Beach).

As a designer, Sheri brings extensive conceptual and production experience to a wide range of projects in print/digital graphics, product/surface design, web and video production. She partners with individuals, businesses and organizations, and works on projects from local to global.

Working professionally since 1980, Sheri has run an independent art and design service since 1993. Also, from 2010-2021 Sheri collaborated with a long time colleague in two businesses focused on producing and promoting creative UPcycled products: Pepe & Sherina Designs and UPcyclity™ The Upcycling Community.

Additionally, Sheri is a member of the Long Beach artists group FLOOD, joining in 2015. They currently produce soundpedro, the annual sound art festival in partnership with Angles Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, CA.

Sheri actively seeks art exhibition, commissions and freelance design opportunities.
